Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt has made history by becoming the first female lead in Yash Raj Films’ spy universe, according to Variety.
The highly anticipated film, which is set to start production in 2024, will feature Bhatt as a “super agent.” Known as one of India’s top actors, Bhatt had a remarkable year in 2022 with successful films like “Gangubai Kathiawadi” and “RRR.” She also ventured into production with the hit Netflix film “Darlings” and starred in the Disney blockbuster “Brahmastra Part One: Shiva.”

The spy universe was launched by producer Aditya Chopra, starting with the Tiger franchise, which starred Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif in films like “Ek Tha Tiger” and “Tiger Zinda Hai.” The most recent installment, “Pathaan,” starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, has been a tremendous success, grossing over $130 million. Collectively, these four films have amassed a staggering $300 million at the box office.
The upcoming film in the spy universe, titled “Tiger 3,” is slated for release in November during the Diwali festival. It will feature a crossover between Shah Rukh Khan’s character and Salman Khan’s character. Additionally, a film titled “Tiger vs Pathaan” is scheduled to begin production in January 2024, directed by Ayan Mukerji, known for his work on “Brahmastra.”
