Dan Stevens has been announced as the new lead voice actor for the animated series “Solar Opposites” on Hulu, replacing Justin Roiland. Roiland, who co-created the show, was fired earlier this year due to domestic violence charges. He was also removed from another Hulu animated series called “Koala Man.” However, the charges against Roiland were later dismissed in March.
Dan Stevens will be playing the character Korvo, an alien who is described as grumpy and always wearing ceremonial robes. Korvo hates Earth and desires to repair the spaceship to escape to a different planet. Stevens joins other cast members including Thomas Middleditch, Sean Giambrone, and Mary Mack. The upcoming fourth season of “Solar Opposites” will debut on August 14, and fans can look forward to a confirmed fifth season.
Stevens is known for his roles in various shows and films, including the Hulu limited series “Welcome to Chippendales,” as well as “Gaslit” on Starz and “Legion” on FX. He has also appeared in popular works like “Downton Abbey,” the live-action adaptation of “Beauty and the Beast,” “The Guest,” “The Call of the Wild,” and “Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.”
In addition to being removed from “Solar Opposites” and “Koala Man,” Justin Roiland was also ousted from his hit Adult Swim animated series “Rick and Morty.” The search for a new lead voice actor for “Rick and Morty” is currently ongoing, as Roiland voiced multiple characters on the show.
Roiland expressed his relief that the charges against him were dismissed, but he also shared his disappointment in the false claims and the negative impact they had on his reputation. He mentioned that he was shaken by the lies and expressed his gratitude for the support he received during the process.
