Reflecting on her early years in the industry, Fishel revealed that as a young teenager, she had a desire to be seen as more mature and adult-like. She believed that receiving attention from older men was a validation of her maturity and capabilities. However, she now realizes that her perspective was misguided.

During the podcast, Fishel, who is now 43 years old, shared a troubling incident involving a male TV executive. She recalled being told by this executive that he had her 18th birthday marked on his calendar. Furthermore, she described a situation where she did a calendar photoshoot at the age of 16, and the executive specifically mentioned having a particular calendar month featuring her in his bedroom. These comments were highly inappropriate and made her feel uncomfortable, but at the time, she didn’t fully grasp the severity of the situation.
Fishel admitted that it took her until her late 30s to truly comprehend the impact of those experiences. After facing several failed relationships, she realized that she struggled with setting boundaries and had low expectations for how she should be treated. She recognized the need to establish healthy boundaries and assert herself in relationships and professional settings.

It was during her involvement in the sequel series, Girl Meets World, that Fishel took the time to reflect on her past and work on setting boundaries for herself. This process was a long time coming, and she acknowledged that it took 37 years to fully understand and address these issues.
