Ed Sheeran continues his dominance on the Australian albums chart with his latest release, “- (subtract).” This marks his sixth consecutive number one album in the region.
Sheeran is no stranger to the top spot. Throughout his career, he has spent a total of 43 weeks at number one.
“- (subtract)” is the final installment in Sheeran’s mathematics-themed album collection, following the success of “+ (plus)” in 2012, “X (multiply)” in 2014, “÷ (divide)” in 2017, “No. 6 Collaborations Project” in 2019, and “= (equals)” in 2019.

Australia has a special connection with Sheeran. During his recent tour, aptly named the “- = ÷ x Tour” or The Mathematics Tour, he broke multiple records. His concert at the Melbourne Cricket Ground drew an attendance of 105,000, setting a new record for ticketed concert attendance. He surpassed his own record the following night with 109,500 tickets sold.

Sheeran also holds the all-time record for ticket sales on a single tour. His 2018 Divide tour, presented by Frontier Touring, exceeded one million tickets sold.
On the ARIA Albums Chart, homegrown indie band Pacific Avenue makes a splash with their debut album “Flowers” at number three. Rapper Big Twisty expresses his excitement, saying it’s a surreal feeling for the band.
The Smashing Pumpkins enter the chart at number five with their album “ATUM,” completing a rock trilogy. The band recently toured the country as part of the World Is A Vampire festival.
Country artist Brad Cox achieves a new peak with his album “Acres” debuting at number seven. This marks his first-ever top 10 appearance, surpassing the peak of his previous album, “My Mind’s Projection,” at number 12 in 2020.
On the ARIA Singles Chart, Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” holds the number one position for the fifth consecutive week.

With Ed Sheeran’s album “- (subtract)” dominating the albums chart, several tracks from the album, as well as his previous works, make an impact on the singles chart. “Eyes Closed” climbs to number seven, while “Curtains” debuts at number 24, the highest entry on the chart. In total, Sheeran now has 66 appearances in the top 100 singles chart, according to ARIA reports.
Other Sheeran songs making moves on the chart include “Shivers” climbing to 22, “Bad Habits” rising to 40, “Boat” ascending to 48, “Perfect” reentering at 55, “Thinking Out Loud” making a comeback at 79, and his 2017 hit “Shape Of You” returning at 81.
