Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Wanda Maximoff, also known as the Scarlet Witch, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently opened up about a time when she accidentally spoiled a plot point from “Avengers: Infinity War” during a sketch. While Marvel is notorious for enforcing strict non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) to prevent spoilers, some actors have been known to let slip important details, like Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo. However, Olsen has now shared her own experience and how she managed to avoid any backlash from Marvel executives.
In 2017, Olsen participated in a sketch with Josh Horowitz and Aubrey Plaza. During the sketch, she inadvertently revealed a key moment from “Avengers: Infinity War.” Responding to a question posed by Horowitz about the film’s ending, Olsen, still in character as Scarlet Witch, said, “Thanos is like ‘Give me the Infinity Gauntlet!’ and Scarlet Witch is like ‘I don’t think so!'” Horowitz, playing along with the sketch, jokingly exclaimed, “Woah, woah, woah, tell me you did not just ruin the ending of ‘Infinity War?'” To everyone’s surprise, Olsen’s response, written as part of the sketch, was eerily close to the actual outcome of the film: “No. Because everybody dies… I thought everyone knew that.”

During a recent conversation on the podcast “Happy Sad Confused,” Horowitz revisited this incident and asked Olsen if she was aware of the spoiler she had revealed. He inquired whether she had any hesitation about potentially getting in trouble or ruining the ending of the movie. Olsen laughed and replied that she didn’t think people would take it seriously because it was said in a sketch. She compared it to throwing people off her trail and speculated that she may have been too confident in assuming it wouldn’t be a problem.
Fortunately for Olsen, her unintentional spoiler didn’t generate much attention or cause any significant repercussions. She noted that she has a feeling she may have accidentally spoiled other things in the past but hasn’t faced any consequences for it. Although she hasn’t disclosed any major spoilers since then, fans eagerly await her upcoming film, “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” in which she will reprise her role as Scarlet Witch. However, it’s safe to assume she will be more cautious about revealing any plot details this time around.
