Roland Abante, a Filipino fisherman, showcased his incredible singing talent on the latest episode of America’s Got Talent (AGT). Despite his humble background and limited experience on stage, Abante wowed the judges and the audience with his powerful performance.
Abante shared that he spends his mornings catching fish and works as a courier and ride-share driver for the rest of the day. Singing karaoke back home is his main exposure to performing. However, he decided to take a leap of faith and audition for AGT, driven by his big dream to be on the show.

During his audition, Abante chose to sing “When a Man Loves a Woman” by Percy Sledge. Despite some initial nerves and an emotional moment on stage, he delivered a breathtaking performance that earned him a standing ovation from all four judges. Heidi Klum praised his rendition and commended him for leaving everything on the stage, while Sofia Vergara predicted a career change for him.
Simon Cowell, who initially doubted Abante’s ability due to his nerves, was pleasantly surprised by the transformation during the performance. He expressed his admiration and described the audition as “really brilliant.” Cowell even joined Klum in giving Abante a hug to celebrate his talent.

Howie Mandel recognized the significance of the moment, stating that it was a life-changing performance. Ultimately, the judging panel unanimously voted with four yeses, advancing Abante to the next round of the competition.
