During a podcast interview, Gerwig expressed her excitement for “Barbie” and the challenges of adapting “The Chronicles of Narnia” books into films.
She admitted feeling scared but believes it’s a good sign as a director. She’s both terrified and excited about the Narnia project.
“Barbie” had a successful opening weekend, grossing $337 million globally. On the same day, Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” earned $174.2 million.
Gerwig emphasized there’s no rivalry between “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer.” She encouraged fans to watch both films in theaters.
She referred to them collectively as “Barbenheimer” and stated they both deserve a big-screen experience.
