Ice Spice Receives Guidance from Taylor Swift: ‘She Shares Valuable Advice with Me’

Ice Spice, the rapper, revealed in a recent interview with The Guardian that her collaboration with Taylor Swift was more than just a one-time occurrence. Ice Spice shared how she got the opportunity to work with Swift and how they continue to stay in touch.

Ice Spice mentioned that Swift had been listening to her EP called “Like..?” during rehearsals for her Eras Tour, which she found surreal. Ice Spice was impressed by Swift’s humility and willingness to work together. She shared that Swift gives her valuable advice and they have regular conversations, finding her funny as well. However, she couldn’t disclose the specifics of their conversations.

Swift collaborated with Ice Spice on a remix of the song “Karma,” released in May, and they also released a music video for the new version. Swift explained that Ice Spice’s team reached out expressing Ice’s admiration for Swift and her desire to collaborate. Swift brought Ice Spice onstage during one of her tour stops in New Jersey.

The interview did not touch upon the controversy surrounding the remix, where fans speculated that Swift only collaborated with Ice Spice in response to problematic remarks made about the rapper by her ex, Matt Healy. The interviewer was instructed not to ask about this incident.

Ice Spice also discussed her collaboration with Nicki Minaj on the single “Barbie Dreams.” She praised Minaj for sharing her mistakes and being a role model to learn from. Ice Spice appreciates having someone like Minaj to confide in and have private conversations with.

As Ice Spice’s fame grows, she is starting to experience the impact of her rising popularity. She shared that she had to hire security after releasing the song “Munch (Feelin’ U)” last summer. Ice Spice noted that while she initially thought she could remain low-key, she soon realized that people were noticing her, forming crowds, and overwhelming her. Adjusting to the excitement and not being able to freely be herself in public has been a challenge for her.

Ice Spice is scheduled to open for Doja Cat on a 24-date tour starting in October. The tour, called The Scarlet Tour, will have Ice Spice and Doechii as supporting acts on select dates. It will kick off in San Francisco on Halloween. Tickets are already available for purchase.
