Created by George Kay, the mastermind behind “Lupin” and “Criminal,” and Jim Field Smith, who has worked on projects like “Criminal” and “Truth Seekers,” the seven-part series promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Kay and Field Smith also serve as the writers and lead directors of the series.

“Hijack” takes place in real time and follows the tense journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London during a seven-hour flight. Meanwhile, on the ground, authorities scramble to uncover answers and find a way to resolve the crisis.
In the series, Elba portrays the character of Sam Nelson, a highly skilled negotiator with a background in the business world. As the passengers’ lives hang in the balance, Sam must use all his cunning and expertise to save them. However, his high-risk strategies could potentially lead to disastrous consequences.

Joining Elba in the cast is Archie Panjabi, known for her roles in “The Good Wife,” “Snowpiercer,” and “Blindspot.” Panjabi plays the role of Zahra Gahfoor, a dedicated counter-terrorism officer who finds herself on the ground when the hijacking occurs. She becomes an integral part of the investigation, working to uncover critical information and assist in resolving the crisis.
