Kim Kardashian Explains Deleting North West’s TikTok Videos: ‘Maybe Kanye Was Correct’

Kim Kardashian recently shared the reason behind removing several TikTok videos featuring her daughter, North West. In an interview with TIME magazine, she opened up about the complexities of co-parenting with her ex-husband Kanye West and shed light on her concerns regarding the content of the videos.

The deleted TikTok videos showcased North lip-syncing to lyrics by rapper Isis Naija Gaston, popularly known as Ice Spice. Kim expressed her discomfort with her 9-year-old daughter vibing to lyrics that were deemed inappropriate. Consequently, she decided to take down the majority of these videos to protect North from engaging with mature content at such a young age.

Upon discovering the explicit lyrics, Kim’s immediate reaction was to remove the videos, stating, “As soon as I saw the words, I was like, ‘Oh no, we’re taking this down.'” It is worth noting that Kanye West, her former spouse and a disgraced rapper, had also expressed his displeasure with the videos. Kim acknowledged Kanye’s opinion on the matter and conceded that he was right about that specific incident.

Kim, however, firmly defended her daughter’s creative expression on the platform. Despite the controversy, she highlighted North’s love for making slime videos and hair tutorials, emphasizing her commitment to supporting her daughter’s creativity. Kim affirmed her dedication to advocating for North’s creative endeavors.

The controversial TikTok video, which has since been deleted, featured North imitating the rapper icon and lip-syncing to the song “Boy’s A Liar, Pt. 2.” The video garnered attention and prompted fans to question the appropriateness of the lyrics for a young child. Prior to this incident, Kanye West had expressed his stance on his children’s presence on TikTok, asserting that they would not be on the platform without his permission. He shared this viewpoint during an appearance on the Hollywood Unlocked podcast hosted by Jason Lee.

Kim further discussed the challenges of co-parenting amid separation. She acknowledged the difficulties that arise when both parents have different preferences and emphasized the importance of trial and error in finding solutions. Kim emphasized the need for compromise in decision-making processes for the well-being of their child.
