Kim Petras has exciting news for her fans. The singer has announced that her debut album, titled “Feed the Beast,” will be released on June 23. This announcement comes after several delays and changes in plans over the past few years. Petras took to social media to share the news, posting an image of a sharp sword resting against jagged rocks.
In the lead-up to the announcement, Petras shared a mysterious medieval-inspired mood board over the weekend. The mood board featured grayscale images of a knight’s helmet, a metal shield, and three different swords. Alongside the images, Petras wrote, “The story begins on June 23rd.”

This album has been a long time coming for Petras. There were rumors that her debut album would be titled “Problématique,” but those plans were scrapped last summer due to leaks. In an interview with Billboard in 2022, Petras expressed her disappointment about the album getting leaked and explained that she realized she wanted to take a different direction with her music. She wanted to move away from writing escapist pop songs and explore new themes and sounds.
“Feed the Beast” will be Petras’ first full-length project with Republic Records. It follows the release of her recent singles, “Brrr” and “Alone” featuring Nicki Minaj. Additionally, Petras released a 7-track EP titled “S*** Pop” in February, which was entirely co-written and co-produced by Dr. Luke.

However, there is some controversy surrounding Petras’ collaboration with Dr. Luke. Dr. Luke, who has been accused of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse by Kesha, worked on Petras’ song “Alone.” It remains unclear how involved he was in the creation of the album, as the official tracklist and credits have not been revealed.
Despite criticism, Petras has defended her decision to work with Dr. Luke, emphasizing her own talent as a songwriter. In an interview with Billboard, she addressed the assumptions that she relies on a big name for her music and affirmed her confidence in her own abilities.
As the release date for “Feed the Beast” approaches, another significant event related to Dr. Luke is set to take place. The defamation lawsuit filed by Kesha against Dr. Luke, which revolves around allegations of abuse, is scheduled to go to trial a few weeks after the album’s release.
