The feud began in September 2022 when Morris stood up against a transphobic post shared by Brittany Aldean, the wife of country singer Jason Aldean. Carlson gave Brittany a platform, and both of them took shots at Morris, calling her a “lunatic.” However, Morris used the situation to her advantage.

Morris proudly revealed that she turned Carlson’s insult into a T-shirt and raised $150,000 for LGBTQ+ charities. She didn’t want to gloat but admitted that it made her feel a little cool. She also made a humorous comment about not insulting the recently unemployed, referring to Carlson’s departure from Fox News.
During her speech, Morris emphasized how the LGBTQ+ community had embraced her during junior high. She explained that speaking up against transphobia should not be considered brave but rather the right thing to do.
