Fans of Paramore were in for a surprise during the band’s second night at Madison Square Garden when Lil Uzi Vert made a guest appearance. Lead singer Hayley Williams invited the rapper onstage to perform their hit song “Misery Business.”
Normally, Paramore selects fans from the audience to join them for the performance of this song. Williams doesn’t always choose the obvious picks, like those closest to the stage. Instead, she scans the crowd and selects unsuspecting audience members. Lil Uzi Vert, a devoted Paramore fan, has often mentioned them as an influence on their own work.

During the concert, Williams expressed her gratitude to Lil Uzi Vert, saying, “We’ve been talking for a while, but this is the first time we’ve met in person. I love you. You’ve said so many nice things about me. You are so sweet to me and to Paramore. Can we do this bridge together again? And then we’re going to blow their minds. Are you ready, New York City? Let’s do this!”
In March 2020, Williams revealed in an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe that she had turned down a collaboration with Lil Uzi Vert because she was concerned about the level of fame it might bring her. She shared, “I remember Uzi asking me to work on something with him, and I know that fans are going to be so mad at me for saying this, but I wrote him back on Instagram and said, ‘Buddy, I love you so much, but I don’t want to be that famous.'”

However, Lil Uzi Vert didn’t give up on the idea of collaborating with Williams. In an interview with Complex at last year’s BET Awards, he expressed his dream collaboration as “Hayley Williams from Paramore,” stating, “There’s no one better than Hayley Williams.”
During Paramore’s first of two sold-out nights in New York, Williams intervened when she noticed some fans pushing and shoving in the general admission pit. After settling the dispute, Williams had the band restart the song “Figure 8,” which she had stopped earlier to address the crowd and sort out the issue.
