Phillip Schofield, the former presenter of This Morning, has responded to allegations of a “toxic” culture behind the scenes of the popular daytime show. The 61-year-old presenter recently stepped down from his role after more than 20 years and made headlines again when he admitted to having an affair with a younger male colleague. However, Schofield has now taken to social media to address claims of toxicity on the show.
In a post on his Instagram Stories, Schofield wrote, “Now that I no longer work on This Morning, I am free to say this. I hope you have noticed that it’s the same few individuals with a grudge against me or the show who seem to have the loudest voice.” He continued, “This Morning is the best show to work on, with the best people. In all the years I worked there, there was no toxicity. While you may choose to listen to those persistently loud voices, thousands of guests, staff, crew, presenters, and contributors can vouch for the fact that it is a family of wonderful, talented, kind, and hardworking people.”

Schofield’s response comes after Dr. Ranj Singh, the former TV doctor on This Morning, claimed that he experienced a “toxic culture” on the show and felt “managed out” after raising concerns two years ago. In light of these allegations, ITV released a statement asserting their commitment to allowing employees to voice their concerns. They also mentioned that an external and independent advisor conducted a review following Dr. Ranj’s complaint and found no evidence of bullying or discrimination.
The controversy surrounding Schofield doesn’t end there. On Friday, his long-time agency dropped him after he publicly confessed to having a secret relationship with a younger male ITV employee while still being married. However, Schofield made it clear that this revelation was unrelated to his decision to leave This Morning.
