Earlier this year, a TikTok trend emerged in which users filmed their everyday activities using symmetrical shots and quirky music, emulating the visual aesthetic of Wes Anderson’s movies. The trend started with a TikToker named @avawillyums, who filmed her train journey in a manner reminiscent of Anderson’s directorial approach.
The hashtag “Wes Anderson Trend” has garnered over 216 million views, indicating the trend’s popularity on TikTok. However, Anderson himself has admitted that he has never watched a single TikTok video, relying solely on verbal descriptions and discussions about the trend.
When asked about his unfamiliarity with TikTok, Anderson explained that while it would be easy for him to visit the platform and explore the content, he deliberately chooses not to engage with it. He mentioned that he doesn’t want to get distracted by TikTok and prefers to focus on his own creative endeavors.

Although Anderson acknowledged the possibility of eventually exploring TikTok and its content, he humorously remarked that he has never watched a TikTok video, especially not those related to his own work. He stated that he wouldn’t begin his TikTok experience with videos about himself, emphasizing his cautious approach to engaging with social media platforms.
